These days, you can't open up your news feed without seeing a headline about AI. From the latest ChatGPT pro tips to high tech companies causing a stir, it's everywhere! 

In this newsletter, we're diving into why more women should work in AI (and what they need) as well as new stats on the impact AI will have on our future world.

📈 Robot Takeover

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) just dropped their latest report of how our world will be impacted by AI. Here are some of the highlights:

  • Nearly 40% of jobs worldwide could be affected by the rise of AI. High-income economies are more at risk than emerging markets and low-income countries.

  • Roughly 60% of jobs could be impacted by AI in high-income nations.

  • The IMF warned that AI could affect income and wealth inequality within countries, warning of “polarization within income brackets.”

  • Workers who are able to access the benefits of AI could increase their productivity and salary, while those who cannot are at risk of falling further behind.

Last year, Goldman Sachs warned generative AI could impact as many as 300 million jobs worldwide. However, they also acknowledged the technology could increase labor productivity and growth and boost gross domestic product by up to 7%.

So why are we talking about AI at WINii?

For one, we’re tinkering with a WINii chatbot in our beta app to help our members better understand their financial numbers. 🤖

For another, part of investing is taking a stance on how you understand the world to work. So this may be an opportunity to invest in AI. 

Or, as we drove home in our pilot workshops, as women in tech, keeping an eye on improving your earning potential will be one of the faster ways to increase your wealth.

👩🏽‍💻 More Women Should Work in AI

In a previous episode of WINii's MoneyBites, I sat down with Lori Rodriguez, best-selling author and president of Women in Tech Global. One of the topics we discussed was whether or not AI is the next big thing and why more women should dive in (hint: not being at the product decision making table is costing women's lives).

To make female representation in leadership happen though, Lori touched on the importance of paternity leave. Paternity leave is as important as maternity leave, and we need to normalize it.

My conversation with Huma Shoaib continued this discussion where she shared her experience of becoming a mother, and how it negatively impacted her career in tech. Although more U.S. companies are beginning to include paternity leave in their benefits packages, it's often nowhere near enough.
