[WINii] How does your net worth compare?

Plus, one woman's journey from art to tech

Hi WINers!

Ever wonder how your net worth compares? Let’s talk transparently about money.

You also get to hear why one woman traded an artistic career for the world of tech.

Ready to jump in?

🎨 From Art to Tech

Stephanie Skuzenski is a senior manager at Johnson & Johnson. She has a brilliant mind that works in different ways. Stephanie's ability to recognize repeatable patterns and her love of efficiency propelled her from pursuing a career as a textile design artist to a system designer in tech.

I particularly enjoyed our discussion on different career motivations and satisfactions throughout the various stages of life, such as switching back from manager to IC for better fulfillment. For manager in our community, do you ever think of switching back?

💵 How Do You Stack Up?

Do you get excited about seeing your net worth grow? I check my net worth tracking app every few weeks just to see how I’m doing. I like seeing the upward direction of my graph.

Some WINers mentioned they emotionally equate their net worth with their savings account. It’s what feels tangible. While they invest into their 401ks, retirement feels so far away.

But remember, Net worth = Total Assets - Total Liabilities

Include your investments. Your 401k, IRAs, HSAs (if you are using it for retirement purposes), and brokerage accounts. Same for your debt, face your numbers. You may be surprised at the progress you’re making.

Comparison is the thief of joy, but I do find these charts interesting. Do they motivate or deflate you?
